Asda will start selling its cooking oil cover in Australia next month after it sold its oil cookers earlier this year in Australia.
The news follows reports that Asda had been considering an Australian sale of its cooking and baking products as well.
However, the company has now said it would be selling its oil-cover cookers to the Australian market instead.
“Asda Australia will be selling our cooking oil cook-top to Australia as we have been doing with our cooking oils and we expect that this will be a significant win for our Australian customers,” said Asda Australia managing director Robyn Jones in a statement.
Asda’s Australian sales are the first to be announced by the Australian arm of the business which is in the process of raising $2 billion to grow its business globally.
Jones said the company planned to offer cooking oil and baking oils in the next 12 months.
She said the move to sell the oil cover was not expected to affect any existing orders in Australia but could be affected if there was a change in the price of the product.
This will be the first time Asda has sold oil cover.
Earlier this month, it announced that it would also start selling the cooking oil-covered cooktops at a later date.
It was the first step in the move towards selling the products.
In February, Asda said it was exploring a range of other opportunities including selling oil-coated cooking and heating products in Europe.
At the time, the Australian unit of the company said that it expected the sale of the cooking and cooking oil covers to be completed by the end of 2018.
