Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., on Monday announced he will run for reelection in 2018, reversing a 2016 decision to seek the GOP nomination.
Scott, the second GOP senator to announce his run in 2018 after Florida’s incumbent Sen. Marco Rubio, said he plans to run as a Republican.
The announcement was made at the Capitol.
Scott said he will announce his race in mid-December.
A Scott-led GOP has been trying to unseat Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow in the district that includes the capital city of Washington, D.C.
