RTE 1.5 million people in Ireland are on the legal cannabis market, the Irish Independent can reveal.
We can reveal the Irish manufacturer of the cannabis oil used in cannabis cookers is planning to open a plant nursery and plant shop in the capital, Dublin.
This comes after the US announced last month it will become the first country in the world to legalize the production, sale and distribution of cannabis for recreational use.
The company, which is based in California, has been looking for a location in Ireland since March.
The new location will include cannabis plants, fertilisers, storage facilities, an indoor and outdoor growing area, and retail outlets, which will be run by the company.
It will also be the first cannabis growing facility in Ireland and the first to be opened in Ireland, the company said in a statement.
Its owner, Ireland’s largest cannabis producer, is planning an opening for the plant nursery in the city’s trendy Market Place in the coming weeks.
The nursery is due to open by the end of April, it added.
Its parent company, Cannabis International, which owns the brand name Pure Organic, is also planning to operate a plant shop and processing plant in Dublin, it said.
The plant shop will offer the same range of products as the company’s retail outlets in Ireland.
The Irish Independent has contacted the company for comment.
